摘要

Central and South America refers to the region south of Mexico and north of Antarctica across the offshore, including 31 countries such as Venezuela, Guyana, and Brazil. The total area of Central and South America is 1820 × 104 km2 (including nearby islands), accounting for 12.0% of the global land area. More than 100 sedimentary basins have developed in Central and South America, where foreland basins, passive margin basins, and cratonic basins are the main types of basins. Central and South America has abundant oil and gas resources accounting for 12.1% of the global oil and gas resources. The total recoverable oil and gas resources in Central and South America are 2258.6 × 108 t.
