Distribution of Oil and Gas Resources in North America
摘要
North America includes the USA, Canada, Greenland, Mexico, and other countries and regions, covering an area of 2,177.9 × 104 km2, where 82 sedimentary basins have developed. The onshore sedimentary zone covers an area of 1,986.6 × 104 km2 and is dominated by foreland and cratonic basins. The offshore sedimentary zone covers an area of 191.3 × 104 km2 and is dominated by passive margin basins. Twenty percent of the world’s total oil and gas resources are concentrated in North America. The total recoverable oil and gas resources in North America are 3562.3 × 108 t of oil equivalent.
