Artificial Intelligence in Finance: A Systematic Literature Review

The advancements in computer storage and processing capabilities have led to the adoption of various tools and techniques of artificial intelligence (AI) across all facets of life. The discipline of finance has been no exception and has been gradually adopting AI. Machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) are major subfields of AI. Historically, we seem to have reached an inflection point of adoption of AI in finance. In this paper, we endeavor to trace the transformational journey and understand the current state of the use of AI in Finance through a Systematic Literature Review. A SLR is a structured methodology that guides researchers to collect literature data, review the important content and analyze the data to provide actionable insights. We present the gaps that we have identified based on our data analysis. The identified gaps are potential areas for carrying out further investigation and detailed research.
