Smart Dustbin Using IoT

The improper disposal of household waste poses significant challenges to hygiene and environmental sustainability. This project introduces an innovative solution, An IoT-based smart dustbin for households has been designed to address waste management challenges by providing real-time monitoring and notifications for optimized waste collection. The system incorporates IR sensors to monitor garbage levels in bins and categorizes them as low, half, or full, improving waste segregation. In addition to real-time monitoring, the system automates the dustbin lid's opening and closing based on the proximity of a person's hand, enhancing user convenience and minimizing contamination risks. Wireless communication through Bluetooth technology enables the transmission of data to an Android mobile application, providing users with notifications about the dustbin's status. This system not only promotes household hygiene but also offers opportunities for efficient waste collection and smart home integration. By optimizing waste management and reducing overflow risks, it contributes to a cleaner and healthier living environment while also supporting environmental sustainability.
