Implementation of 5S Methodology in the Bike Service Shop
摘要
This paper aims to evaluate the possible advantages of applying the 5S methodology—Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke—in the context of the service sector. It also intends to offer helpful suggestions about using it in a bike repair workshop. It is strongly advised that bike workshops to implement the 5S method, which consists of Seiri (sorting), Seiton (systematic arrangement), Seiso (cleanliness), Seiketsu (standardization), and Shitsuke (maintaining discipline). Within a wide range of service industries, this strategy is projected to provide notable benefits in several areas, including workplace safety, general quality, productivity, on-time service delivery, cost-effectiveness, and employee morale. The bike servicing process has improved considerably after including the 5S tool and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). These beneficial outcomes include higher production rates, shorter service times, improved work environments, and less delays caused by missing components. The bike workshop only had a small number of bikes that it could service before adopting the 5S and AHP approaches. However, after implementing these strategies, they could effectively handle a more significant number of bikes and successfully meet servicing deadlines.
