摘要

The worldwide supply chains experienced considerable disruptions as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to far-reaching and considerable impacts. The aforementioned repercussions often resulted in systemic disruptions and revealed vulnerabilities within worldwide supply chain networks. The initial stages of the worldwide pandemic were marked by substantial disruptions to the transportation and distribution of goods and substances due to the implementation of extensive closure measures, quarantine protocols, and restrictions on movement. As a result, there were occurrences of disruptions and delays in the manufacturing and distribution procedures of diverse products. As a result of the high demand for essential products including personal protective equipment (PPE), medical supplies, and cleaning products, shortages were observed. The scarcities were additionally exacerbated by the occurrence of frantic purchasing demonstrated by consumers. The transportation and logistics industry encountered numerous challenges, including the imposition of border restrictions, a decline in aviation traffic, and port congestion. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of the impact that pandemics have had on the sustainability of supply chains in numerous industries, including food, energy, automotive, airline, and small and medium-sized businesses worldwide. Detailed analysis is provided of the obstacles these industries encountered during and after the pandemic, as well as precautionary measures that must be taken to ensure sustainable supply chains during future pandemics such as COVID-19.
