Identifying and Analyzing Export Barriers in the Seafood Industry: A DEMATEL Approach

In today's globalized world, the export industry faces various obstacles and seeks innovative solutions to overcome them. However, the identification of these obstacles continues to pose difficulties in seafood exports. The primary focus of this study is to identify the specific hurdles associated with exporting seafood. The DEMATEL approach offers a wide range of applications, including the study of global problem-solving and the examination of obstacles in maritime trade. The construction of interrelations between various values is a crucial aspect of the DEMATEL approach, as it provides sufficient information for future analysis and decision-making, making it particularly significant in the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) sector. Through research, debates, and surveys based on questionnaires conducted across multiple sectors of the exporting industry, a total of 12 impediments to the export of marine food were identified. This study aims to utilize a method to analyze seafood export barriers, specifically employing the DEMATEL method, to achieve the goal of identifying interrelationships between evaluation criteria for tainted seafood. Real cases will be employed to explore the impact relationship maps derived from both respondents and our method, thereby facilitating comprehensive discussions on seafood barriers.
