Optimizing Raw Milk Procurement in the Dairy Supply Chain: An Exploration of Influential Factors Through MCDM Analysis

The dairy industry is a vital global sector, involving raw milk production, processing, and distribution. The success of the industry depends on its operational components, particularly milk procurement. This paper identifies critical factors influencing the Indian dairy supply chain, focusing on raw milk procurement. A literature review identified eleven factors, and a questionnaire was developed to assess their interactions. The Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) methodology was used to identify key criteria with high driving power. Farmers’ awareness was identified as the most significant factor, highlighting the need for increased attention to improve raw milk procurement.
