摘要

Considering the widespread usage of face shields and protective personal equipment (PPE) kits during the COVID-19 epidemic that are often abandoned into the oceans, rivers, streets, and other elements of the environment, has contributed to an increased degree of micro plastic pollution (MP). In this chapter we are discussing about the generation of plastic based PPEs during COVID-19 outbreak. We have also present the impact of waste production from PPEs in environmental sustainability throughout the globe. In addition, aspects of the worldwide economy involved in the generation of PPE waste are also mentioned. As a consequence of the measures currently being taken and those that will be taken in the near future to combat coronavirus, a significant amount of masks and plastic items (personal protective equipment (PPE) kits, face shields, etc.) will be created as garbage in the upcoming future. As a result, this chapter also discusses potential approaches to achieving long-term advantages for the environment. It is hoped that the effective use of the techniques that have been offered would be of assistance in maintaining the integrity of the environment on a global scale.
