摘要

A set of extreme stressors, such as diet, can overwhelm the human gut microbiota, resulting in a pathological state called dysbiosis. A Western-style diet (WSD), also called a meat-sweet or standard American diet, is defined as the overconsumption of snacks, refined grains, high-fat dairy products, red meat, sweets, high-sugar beverages, conventionally raised animal products, high-fructose products, and fast food. Multiple studies have shown that a WSD can alter the gut microbiota composition from a healthy to a dysbiotic state.
