Automatic Load Distribution of Power During Low Power Generation Using PLC
摘要
Load shedding occurs when electricity generation cannot keep up with the expanding demand and power shortages. With the surge in power needs, power loads have been continuously rising both during off-peak hours and overall. Any such imbalance could cause instability or extremely high voltage fluctuations in the power system. The manual load shedding still exists in the substations, which needs person to monitor the load-shedding process based on demand and generation of the power, which is tedious and time consuming. Hence, power production and consumption should always be balanced. The imbalance can lead to shutting down of the entire power grid. The objective of this research is to automatically disconnect the low priority load and use generators to provide continuous power to the top priority load during a power loss or peak load. This paper presents autoload shedding for the feeders during low power generation by incorporating programmable logic controller (PLC), and reduces cost, time error, and human intervention.
