Determination of Optimum Ternary Elastomeric Blend Using Mixture Design-Based Desirability Function Approach

Ternary blending of elastomers is adopted currently by many researchers to achieve the required properties suit to applications. The selection of elastomers and their content in the ternary mixture is crucial and can be made on the basis of factors such as solubility parameters and nature of polarity. İn this study for finding the optimum content of three elastomers, ENR, CR, and HNBR, of the proposed ECH, ternary blend is done by adopting simplex centroid mixture design approach. The mechanical and morphological characteristics of nine different design combination of blends are studied, and the response surface equations are obtained. SEM images ensure proper mixing and uniform distribution of CB in the ternary blend. The desirability function approach is used to determine the optimum blend combination.
