Advanced Concepts
摘要
The ascendance and permeation of deep brain stimulation even beyond the domain of movement disorders warrants a perspective consideration of advanced concepts. These advanced concepts can be categorized according to applications for the Internet of medical devices, such as the meta verse for healthcare, which is resemblant of Network Centric Therapy, and their supporting foundations, such as the smartwatch and flexible electronics. Additional advanced concepts involve artificial intelligence algorithms that are more authentically representative of a neuromorphic perspective, the consideration of electromagnetic interference (EMI) associated with deep brain stimulation, and further clarification of biomarkers. Furthermore, as the available candidates for deep brain stimulation therapeutic intervention exceed the scope of movement disorders, new ethics are recommended for the expanded implementation of deep brain stimulation. These identified advanced concepts are envisioned to augment the impact of deep brain stimulation.
