摘要

Every valuable property needs protection for its long-term durability. These also include intellectual property (IP) which can be protected by patents. Information protection from unauthorized use is becoming more and more crucial in this new era as the stakes for technology creators grow. Research and development (R&D) in any field is the main skeleton for innovation. There is always a threat of R&D information theft which can eventually lead to heavy financial loss. This is when patents can be useful. There are various jurisdictions in the world where patents can be registered. Patent rights are regional. The exclusive rights are often only valid under the laws of the nation or area where the patent application was made and was approved. Different countries have separate patent registration processes. In this chapter, we will be exacting on the various IP rights and the steps for registration of patents which are available for protection over innovations in the field of craniofacial imaging.
