Application of Three-Dimensional Scanning for In-Office Digital Manufacturing of Direct Printed Aligners

In comprehensive orthodontic treatment modalities, direct three-dimensional (3D) printed aligners are state-of-the-art appliances integrating disruptive technology with patient-centered customization. The acquisition of digital dental data enables virtual treatment planning and designing of sequential tooth-moving appliances for additive manufacturing using biocompatible resins. This chapter aims to provide an overview of the technical aspects of setting up the in-office workflow for direct 3D printed aligners.
