Post-click functionalization is a versatile and innovative strategy employed in the modification of pre-formed molecular frameworks via a secondary, often selective, chemical reaction. This technique leverages the high efficiency and specificity of click chemistry to initially construct a core structure, which is subsequently adorned with various functional groups. The approach significantly expands the chemical diversity and applicability of the resultant compounds in fields such as drug discovery, materials science, and bioconjugation. Key benefits of post-click functionalization include modularity, high yield, and the ability to introduce multiple functionalities under mild conditions.
