The Xiamen Special Economic Zone, one of the first four special economic zones established in China, has developed from a former coastal defense town to a vanguard, pioneer and testing ground for reform and opening-up after 40 years’ hard work. Entering the new era, the Xiamen special economic zone faces the challenges of replacing the old driving forces of growth with new ones for high-quality development.
