An Overview of Sustainable Solutions Towards Recycling of Metallurgical Slags

  • Navneet Singh Randhawa

摘要

Metallurgical slags, such as copper slag, electric arc furnace (EAF) slag, and basic oxygen furnace (BOF) slag, are byproducts of metal production processes. Traditionally seen as waste, these slags possess significant potential as a resource for metals and valuable products. Recycling technologies and energy-efficient methods can extract critical metals from slags. Innovative techniques enable the extraction of metals from copper slag and the use of secondary waste in construction materials. Energy-efficient processes convert EAF slag into valuable products and recover iron from BOF slag for steel production. Efficient slag recycling promotes energy savings and sustainable resource management, contributing to a sustainable future. By employing innovative technologies and energy-efficient methods, the potential of slags can be harnessed while minimising waste generation and environmental impact. Embracing these recycling opportunities contributes to a sustainable future and efficient resource management.
