摘要

Flow cytometry is an elegant instrument that measures various physical characteristics of a single cell-like granularity and size simultaneously. Its functionality relies on the scattering of light by cells under investigation, facilitated by monoclonal antibodies or surface-targeting dyes. This dual targeting approach enhances the instrument’s potency, enabling in-depth analysis of complex cell populations within brief timeframes. This review explores the broad applications of flow cytometry in molecular biology, emphasizing its role in analyzing cell cycle stages, apoptosis, DNA fragmentation, and cell sorting. From unraveling the intricacies of cell division to shedding light on programmed cell death and genetic material integrity, flow cytometry emerges as an indispensable tool, contributing significantly to nuanced insights in molecular biology research.
