Voices of Resistance: Kaifi Azmi’s Exploration of Reason, War, and Revolution

This chapter looks at progressive Urdu poetry as being a potential torc bearer of human rights. It reads progressive Urdu poet Kaifi Azmi's engagement with many issues which are the primary concern in literature on human rights. Kaifi's espousal of the rights of women, his fight against injustice and his concern for common man find reflection in a number of his nazms. The chapter also looks at Kaifi's trenchant criticism of fascist ideology which suppressed all human rights.
