Equal Opportunities and Job Creation for Women at Yangluo Village

摘要

While the phenomenon of indigenous women facing disproportionate challenges in escaping extreme poverty is observed globally, this case study focuses on the developmental efforts aimed at reducing gender and ethnic barriers to achieving financial autonomy in Yangluo village, which has a predominantly Wa population. In Yangluo village, a specific policy was implemented with a model centered around Wa women, known as “company + production base + women + intangible heritage.” This approach led to improvements in income equality, housing security, employment opportunities, and mindset among Wa women.  For comparison, a multi-disciplinary poverty reduction strategy was implemented in Huamao Village, Guizhou Province, involving agricultural technology, revitalization of local crafts, and infrastructure reconstruction.
