Computational thinking (CT) is a method of problem-solving that divides complex problems hooked on reduced, further controllable chunks. The use of abstraction, data analysis, and algorithms by CT is essential to the development of solutions. Its importance in the STEM fields—science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—is crucial, especially in light of the impending Industry 4.0. CT has become a vital skill in higher education due to the growing need for technology expertise in the modern workforce. This essay explores the function of computational thinking in higher education, examining the opportunities and problems associated with its incorporation. Given the significance of education and the inherent worth of CT, it is necessary to investigate the field’s current state and emerging trends. As a result, a systematic review includes an outline of studies conducted during the previous two years, revealing the current patterns and difficulties in incorporating CT into related field curricula. The review begins with an impression of computational thinking, outlining its core principles. It then delves into the wide range of pros and cons connected to computational thinking, illuminating its various uses.
