Role of Antioxidants in the Management of Migraine Pain
摘要
Although there have been many research on the pathophysiology of migraine, the precise molecular mechanism responsible for the disruptions associated with migraine remains unidentified. Moreover, oxidative stress is believed to have a substantial impact on the development of migraines. The concept of oxidative stress in individuals with migraines has been a topic of discussion for many years. In recent years, there has been significant focus on nutraceuticals, including plant-derived antioxidants, as potential treatments for migraines. Antioxidants present in food help avoid oxidative stress by preventing the initiation, propagation, and chain reaction of oxidation. Additionally, it is quite probable that the medications used to prevent migraines currently available have antioxidant properties. Many people who suffer from migraines are turning to the antioxidants as discussed in this chapter. This is not only because they have moderate or no adverse effects but also because they are beneficial in reducing the occurrence of migraine incidents or restricting their duration. This chapter offers a concise overview of the potential of plant-derived antioxidants and nutraceuticals in the treatment of migraine.
