The Origin of the Literary Style of Xiaoshuo

Chinese xiaoshuo had its roots in historiography. However, when it is traced from the narrative tradition, its source is myths/legends. It is generally believed that xiaoshuo originated from mythology. This statement is true from the perspective of the origin of the ideology. Mythology is the origin of ideologies, not to mention a literary genre such as xiaoshuo. All literature and arts, ideologies such as religion and morality, originate from mythology.
