Martial Arts and Cuju
摘要
Traditionally, the Chinese love sports as an essential method for keeping fit as well as for entertainment. These sports include the dragon-boat races during the Dragon Boat Festival, swings at the Qingming Festival, and climbing mountains during the Double-Ninth Festival. People also relate sports to an enhanced insight into life, such as weiqi (go) and Chinese chess. As a country with diverse cultural traditions passed down from one generation to another over a long history, China has developed a variety of sports, including archery, sumo, cuju (traditional football), wrestling, equestrianism, martial arts, and acrobatics.
