Cyber Security in Healthcare Industry: A Global Perspective
摘要
There is a significant surge in cyberspace expansion worldwide, and safeguarding digital information has become crucial. Among the numerous industries, the healthcare sector is increasingly vulnerable to cyber-attacks. It is the prime target for such incidents due to its reliance on digital technologies and the vast amount of sensitive patient data it handles. Ensuring the safety of the cyber realm, particularly in the healthcare sector, has become an urgent necessity. Cybersecurity in the healthcare sector is crucial to protect patient data, ensure patient safety, comply with regulations, prevent financial losses, maintain reputation and trust, defend against cyber-attacks, and safeguard intellectual property. This paper provides a comprehensive survey of the vulnerabilities within the healthcare system, shedding light on the specific threats that the healthcare industry encounters. These threats encompass targeted attacks directed at healthcare organizations, ransomware exploitation, unauthorized access to sensitive patient data, and the ever-present risk of Man-in-the-Middle attacks. The paper proposes various general defense strategies that healthcare organizations can implement in response to these critical threats. Additionally, we will examine the statistics of cybercrime in the healthcare field alongside real-life occurrences. By prioritizing cybersecurity measures, healthcare organizations can mitigate risks and create a secure environment for patient care and innovation.
