Intergenerational Intervention to Reduce Elder Abuse

The global population of older adults is increasing. Older adults undergo physical and mental changes and they face a number of challenges in their family. One of the major global issues faced by older adults is Elder abuse. Abuse and neglect can lead to worsening health, longevity, and well-being at older ages. With the rapid increase in the older adults’ population, abuse and neglect of them is a growing concern in India. The field experiences and figures gleaned from various sources inform that the problem of elderly abuse is considerably found in India among grandchildren and lack of intergenerational programs to deal with the issues. The researcher considering the research gaps in these areas, taken up an intergenerational intervention study in a community to reduce the elder abuse adopting a quasi-experimental design and mixed methods approach. This paper is a part of the whole study.
