Recycling and Upcycling of Industrial and Domestic Wastes

Nowadays, in the Textile Industries as well as in people’s daily life, old materials, fabrics and accessories are wasted. These when dumped or thrown away in garbage, end up in landfills. The purpose of this project is to demonstrate how old or discarded materials at home or industry, can be upcycled or recycled while simultaneously moving to a circular economy. Textile Industries can thus, stimulate their companies in the World of Fashion and Trends, in a sustainable way. Through this initiative, they will reduce the quantity of wastes that are disposed daily and reduce pollution. Additionally, Textile Industries can help with the overall recovery and recycling of materials and products, which will be beneficial both for the environment and economy worldwide. The aim of this research is to show how the generated wastes can be re-used to enable the different Textile Industries and the society to keep up with the ‘World of Fashion’. Industrial and Domestic Textile wastes is reused to create a collection of garments, based on the theme ‘Scales’. These waste materials are implemented in an efficient and aesthetic manner. The main idea is to recycle industrial and domestic waste to prevent products or materials from ending up in landfills or being wasted. The design collection projects contributes to an initiative of sustainable consumption. It will help create awareness about becoming sustainable and saving resources by avoiding unnecessary expenditures. At the same time, it will sensitize people to think how old or used materials can still be useful to them.
