This chapter overviews the Cold War in Asia after 1953, covering important events in East, Southeast, and South Asia. This piece will focus on the intersections between the two major aspects of the Cold War in this region: the triangular relations among the United States, the Soviet Union, and China, on the one hand, and local and regional conflicts stemming from the decolonization process, on the other hand.
