Drawing on a strategic blend of econometric techniques, this chapter analyzes the pandemic's disruptive effects on banking operations. The findings reveal a significant strain on the banking system, primarily attributed to the unprecedented implementation of the countercyclical lending role during the crisis. Moreover, the research critically evaluates the impact of Oman's government's various supportive measures, including monetary easing and liquidity enhancements. These interventions have played a crucial role in mitigating the severe repercussions of the crisis on the financial sector, buffering against the blow of the pandemic. However, the study highlights the importance of continuously monitoring these measures in a transitioning economy. Specifically, as Oman embarks on the path to recovery from its most debilitating recession in years, it signifies a critical juncture in its economic history.
