Shear Strength Check of the Stud in Lightweight Composite Bridge Deck Accounting for Overloaded Vehicles

摘要

This paper evaluates the shear strength of the steel stud connectors in the steel-UHPC lightweight composite bridge deck composed of the orthotropic steel deck with closed U-ribs. The interlaminar shear stress between the UHPC pavement and the steel plate of orthotropic steel deck in the new steel-UHPC lightweight composite bridge deck is computed using the finite element method, in which the influence of wheel loading conditions and overloaded vehicles are studied. Results show that the largest interlaminar transverse shear stress between UHPC pavement and steel plate is induced by the action of triple-axle loading. The interlaminar shear stress between the UHPC pavement and the steel plate will increase significantly under the action of the overloaded vehicles.
