Revival of the Traditional Gond Art of Madhya Pradesh Through Modern Technologies of the Digital Platforms and UX-UI

India a land of diverse cultures and traditional artforms. One of the most famous folk art worldwide known as ‘Gond art’ is commonly found in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. Gond paintings are made by the Gond tribal community with a variety of forms and colors. The work of Gond artists is rooted with folk tales, culture and thus creates a strong story-telling element in every painting. Paintings are not just a piece of art, they are masterpieces created by renowned Gond artists practicing Gond art from a very long time. These paintings are made with intricate details by using dots, lines and shapes with vibrant colors and tell stories of animals, nature, gods and everyday lives. Gond art is considered one of the purest folk art and Patangarh of Dindori district is a village of artists, which owes its artistic legacy to the great Gond artist Jangarh Singh Shyam and other famous Gond artists. Due to pandemic and various other economic conditions, it has become a challenge for Gond artists to survive by making paintings and other crafts. This research attempts to analyze the problems faced by Gond artists in their day-to-day lives while making paintings and helps derive the possible design interventions with solutions pertaining to digital platforms and creating a seamless User Experience and Interface to aid the Gond tribal community. The data collected is through empirical and ethnographic field research, which is then analyzed to create possible design interventions leading to help the Gond tribal community.
