Advances in Micro-milling: A Critical Review

摘要

Composites, polymers, ceramics, and high-strength metal alloys are some materials amenable to being micro-milled. Because of its elasticity, complex shapes may be achieved with it. Traditional milling is comparable to CNC milling in terms of spindle speed, feed rate, depth of cut, and tool type. One of the latest developments in the industrial 4.0 movement is micro-milling. This trend encourages adopting eco-friendly practices that produce less trash than conventional ways. Micro-milling's key characteristics are compactness, high accuracy, complicated geometries, trim waste, and material compatibility. For the sake of this study, the micro-milling parameters affecting the process's efficiency have been broken down into six main categories. Materials, cutting forces, surface topography, burr formation, process monitoring, and cutting fluid are some of these components. This paper offers a comprehensive review of these criteria. A comprehensive critical analysis of these parts is paired with the literature review to conclude.
