Progress in Non-ferrous Alloy Behavior in Forging Technology

  • Rahul Ramesh Kulkarni

摘要

In recent years, non-ferrous alloys have gained significant importance due to their wide-ranging applications in fields such as automobile, aerospace, space, electronics, defense, biomedical, oil, natural gas, and heavy industries. The demand for these alloys has also risen, prompting advancement in forging technology to address their inherent limitations. These alloys encompass materials like aluminum, magnesium, titanium, cobalt, nickel, chromium, and metal matrix composites. The processing of these alloys through the forging methods poses a challenge for industries due to their unique characteristics. Some alloys are relatively easy to forge, and their forged products are already in use, while others present difficulties in the forging processes, providing valuable insights into their characteristics and the processes applied to them. This understanding can pave the way for improvement in the forging of non-ferrous alloys. The present article discusses the progress in non-ferrous alloy behavior in forging processes which affects the mechanical properties for usefulness of these alloys for particular applications.
