Culturally Sensitive Communication in Health Care: The Ways Forward

This chapter discussed particular areas related to culturally sensitive communication in health care that need special attention in the future. We focused on three specific issues related to genetic counseling, Advance Care Planning, and requesting organ donation, and we added a brief section on the role of technology to advance communication in health care. We touched on every issue to stimulate open discussion among experts, researchers, and practitioners of communication in health care. We presented recent evidence and pointed out several gaps in the literature that demand further exploration.
