Preparing Future Health Professionals to Bridge the Cultural Communication Gap

This chapter aims to support novice teachers in communication skills, especially in hierarchical and communal cultures, by highlighting the frequent pitfalls in the training process. We will discuss the Five-phases Model in communication skills learning, the learning tasks in communication skills, the roles of simulation, the structure of the curriculum, and the feedback in communication skills. We will also touch on the culturally sensitive guides in communication skills training and provide some examples from our learning journeys with our students.
