A Study on the Influence of Ethnic Foods on Culture, Post-COVID-19

Post-COVID-19, the eating habits of localities have drastically changed. This study is aimed at finding the effect on food habits of regional and social groups post-COVID-19. The complete or partial lockdown has had an impact on cultural food. Ethnicity refers to a social group that shares different characteristics such as language, religion, values, and customs. Ethnic food culture and tastes of different regions was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as trends toward unfavorable dietary behaviors during the lockdown such as increased caloric intake, more frequent snacking, and reduced consumption of ethnic and regional foods. To assess the study, the descriptive methodology of research has been adopted. A sampling method under cluster sampling wherein regional and social group is formed for the research analysis, which details the socio-cultural influence on ethnic food habits and traditional foods before COVID-19. The interview questionnaire is structured to find the impact on food habits post-COVID-19. The findings of the study should bring out the demographic expansion of ethnic food alongside the impact on ethnic food habits post-COVID-19 defined as food originating from the culture of an ethnic group. The survey based on various cultures brings out its very important role in the selection of food and food habits.
