The Indian tourism and hospitality sector has emerged as a crucial engine of growth in India’s services sector. The tourism and hospitality industry are people-intensive, and skilled human resources have a major role to it. The role of tourism and hospitality education has become even more significant in this regard. Tourism and hospitality education is a fusion of professional expertise, academic instruction, craft knowledge, and skills abilities geared at meeting the demands of the sector in its entirety. This chapter discusses the evolution of tourism and hospitality education in India, key milestones, trends, and present status. Further, the hospitality and tourism education innovations covering industry-academia collaboration and skill initiatives are discussed.
