Soft and Interpersonal Skills for Development as Professional in the Service Industry
摘要
In sectors such as tourism and hospitality, wherein the customer assumes primary importance, the provision of service relies upon the interactions between customers and frontline employees. The inclusion and assessment of relational skills, as essential criteria for employee selection and development, have attained a level of significance that equals or exceeds that of technical qualifications. The increasing value of soft skills lies in their ability to effectively complement hard skills, thereby serving as a catalyst for a prosperous career. Conversely, the successful application of relational skills in service delivery enhances customer satisfaction and contributes to the flourishing of organizations. The identification of appropriate relational skills for service, coupled with the placement of suitable individuals in respective roles, engenders a greater equilibrium in the workplace and, consequently, in employees’ personal lives. By constructing competency models that align closely with job profiles, the likelihood of errors in hiring or assigning ill-suited personnel for particular positions can be mitigated. This chapter presents a range of tools designed to facilitate the identification and cultivation of soft skills essential for both job performance at an individual level and the overarching business model from a managerial perspective.
