Using Augmented Reality Applications in the Greek Mythology Courses: The Case of Türkiye
摘要
The study aims to reveal the advantages, disadvantages, requirements, and possible problems of using augmented reality applications in Greek Mythology courses. Firstly, an open-ended question form was created by authors who are both professional tourist guides. To ensure the content validity on August 25, 2022, the form was submitted to five experienced academicians from different universities via e-mail. On September 13, 2022, the forms were evaluated and revised. Between September 14 and 23, 2022, a pilot study was carried out with five academicians who had teaching experience in Greek Mythology courses. On September 23, 2022, the data of the pilot study was analyzed, and the final form comprised of four questions was submitted via e-mail to the academicians from different universities in Türkiye. As a result of data collection which took approximately one and a half months, 20 participants (11 female, 9 male) returned. Consequently, four codes (pre-training on augmented reality, augmented reality-supported classes, and financial support) under the theme of requirements; six codes (arouse interest, making lessons enjoyable, increasing the memorability, facilitating learning, visualization, provide remote experience) under the theme of advantages; two codes (being the application costly and misrepresentation) under the theme of disadvantages and three codes (inadequacies in physical infrastructure, Internet disconnections, and finding budget) under the theme of possible problems were highlighted.
