摘要

Spiroheterocyclic compounds are important scaffolds in organic chemistry because of their numerous applications in biology, chemistry, and pharmaceuticals. The synthesis of spiroheterocycles presents a fascinating synthetic challenge to organic chemists due to their structural stiffness and complexity, which boosts affinity for proteins by minimizing conformational entropy loss. Sulfur-containing heterocyclic compounds broadly be present in numerous abundant natural products and bioactive molecules. The goal of this chapter is to summarize some relevant data about the spiroheterocycles via construction of five- and six-member sulfur-containing rings such as thiophene, thiopyran, and dithiine at other cyclic rings. Along with their basic pharmacological qualities, certain interesting features of their synthesis techniques are highlighted.
