This research discusses the phenomenon of orkes dangdut gerobak (cartwheeled dangdut orchestra), whose meanings have been constructed by mainstream media to be associated with eroticism, sexual harassment, and criminality. According to the mainstream paradigm, goyangan (dance movement) in dangdut tends to be understood as an activity contributing to male dominance over women. This chapter aims to analyze the representation of patriarchal capitalism in several online media writings regarding orkes dangdut gerobak. The results reveal that the narrations constructed by online media are not similar to the everyday narratives of the orkes dangdut gerobak as represented by the group Orkes Selvina. Moreover, the research findings uncover that city officials interpret the governmentality of the repressive and rigid local regulations of the Special Capital Region (DKI) of Jakarta in a flexible and fluid manner.

摘要
