摘要

Medicinal plants are valuable resources known for their production of secondary metabolites, which find extensive applications in pharmaceuticals and traditional medicine. These metabolites possess distinct structural features and pharmacological properties, contributing to their therapeutic efficacy. Despite the limited genomic diversity observed in medicinal plants, recent advancements in next-generation sequencing have garnered attention for their ability to offer comprehensive transcriptomic data for these species. Within the realm of biological research, transcriptomics has emerged as a pivotal area of discussion. RNA sequencing, or transcriptome sequencing, serves as a potent investigative tool characterized by its capacity for high-throughput analysis, sensitivity, and precise resolution, facilitating investigations into both established model organisms and less-studied species. Its utility proves indispensable, particularly in scenarios where biological knowledge is scarce. Transcriptome analysis plays a crucial role in elucidating the regulatory mechanisms and identifying functional genes within medicinal plants, offering insights that aid in the refinement of cultivation practices and breeding strategies. Consequently, it serves as a cornerstone for advancing our understanding of medicinal plant biology and enhancing their therapeutic potential.
