Biochar for Electrochemical Energy Storage
摘要
Carbon electrodes are essential components of batteries and supercapacitors and play a vital role in energy storage systems. Numerous novel approaches have evolved in the literature with ever-increasing demand for sustainable energy storage. Carbon obtained from new sources and synthetic approaches is one of the rapidly evolving areas. Carbon electrode materials obtained using renewable sources and green synthetic approaches seem very promising approach. Such biochar-derived substances have acquired a great potential to be utilized as electrode materials for energy storage devices such as lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), sodium-ion batteries (SIBs), lithium-sulfur batteries (Li–SBs), metal-air batteries, Fuel cell and supercapacitors (SCs). This chapter covers biochar synthesis strategies specifically for energy storage perspectives, mechanism of energy storage, and potential of biochar in developing electrodes.
