Microbial Production of r-DNA Products

Recombinant DNA (rDNA) technology has transformed human healthcare by enabling mass manufacturing of safe, clean, and effective rDNA expression products. Currently, various kinds of rDNA products are being created for human application, including hormones of therapeutic interest, therapeutic enzymes, thrombolytic agents, blood coagulation products, interleukins, anticoagulants, interferons, and hemopoietic growth factors. The current chapter discusses several aspects of rDNA products, such as expression systems, production, purification, analysis, and medicinal applications, as well as regulatory aspects and the market potential of various products.
