Hollow Mesoporous Copper Sulfide Nanoparticles for Cancer Phototherapy

Hollow mesoporous copper sulfide nanocrystals are new kinds of photothermal agents that have attracted much attention due to their unique advantages, including strong localized surface plasmon resonances in near-infrared (NIR) I and II windows, high photothermal conversion stability, large internal cavity and specific area for drug loading, X-ray computed tomography and photoacoustic imaging and good biocompatibility. In addition, Hollow mesoporous copper sulfide upon NIR laser irradiation can generate reactive oxygen species, which may be due to the photodynamic and hemodynamic effects. In this chapter, the preparation methods and optical absorption properties, drug-loaded hollow mesoporous copper sulfide upon NIR laser irradiation for cancer multimodal therapy, as well as in vivo toxicity were discussed.
