China has a diverse topography that includes hills, mountains, high plateaus, and deserts in the west, while the central and eastern regions are characterized by broad plains and deltas. The country is drained by thousands of rivers flowing eastwards, with the Yangtze, Heilong (Amur), Mekong, Pearl, and Yellow rivers being the most significant ones.
