摘要
This chapter examines the cultural geography of the Central Himalaya. It is a qualitative study, based on the vast experiences, field observations, and participation in the major cultural events from time to time. In this chapter, the historical perspectives of cultural geography, social structure, caste systems, pilgrimages, and their influence on the culture, customs, and rituals are elaborated. The Central Himalayan region has a rich culture and cultural heritage. The proverb ‘where folk dances with nature’s rhythm’ is synonymous with the region. It has many river valleys and highland pilgrimages, where thousands of pilgrims visit every year. The cultural geography of the region is significantly influenced by the spectacular landscapes and the snow-capped Himalaya.
