摘要

Disorders of the hallux (i.e., great, big, or first toe) encompass a wide variety of conditions that can significantly restrict a patient’s ambulatory capacity and quality of life. Although there are over a dozen of different hallux disorders, the following are the most common and the focus of this book chapter: hallux valgus (HV), hallux rigidus, hallux varus, sesamoiditis, and turf toe. The primary approach to diagnosing these conditions typically involves conducting a comprehensive patient history and physical examination. Radiographic imaging is often employed for assessing the severity of the hallux pathology and aiding in surgical preparation.
