摘要

The prevalence of obese people has increased rapidly worldwide. Malaysia has the highest obesity rate in Southeast Asia. Exercise is one of the best ways to reduce body weight and maintain good health. This study aims to determine the effect of CrossFit training on the body composition of obese women. A total of thirty women participated in this study (Age 24.50 ± 3.37 years old). They were divided into two groups, which were the exercise and control groups. The exercise group was required to participate in the training session three times per week for eight weeks. The body mass, body mass index (BMI), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), and body fat percentage were measured before and after training. The body fat percentage was determined using three sites of skinfold measurement. At the end of the training, the overall body composition of the exercise group showed an improvement. A significant difference was found in body mass (p < 0.01), BMI (p < 0.01), WHR (p < 0.01), and fat percentage (p < 0.01). In conclusion, CrossFit training was effective in improving the body composition of obese women.
